Some Advice On Perkins Student LoansAs our economy continues to be strangled by the burden of warfare and excessive taxes, college students may find it impossible to pay back student loans. That said, depending on the course of study you take, it may be easier to manage them. Among other things, there may be situations where you can have your student loans excused.
To begin, if you decide to become a school teacher, your loans may be forgiven. In particular, if you are willing to teach in a rural, or underserved area, your entire debt may be absorbed by the government. You will need to inquire about these programs, as well as learn how to go about securing jobs that will lead to the forgiveness of your debt.
Medical students may also be able to take advantage of similar opportunities. Among other things, doctors that are willing to work in federally designated underserved areas may receive a reduction in their debt. In other cases, the government may give you money to open a practice, or allow you to obtain more money from insurance carriers for serving specific patients. As an example, Medicare will give you a quarterly incentive check for each patient that you see in their program.
Many nursing students can also seek relief from student loan debt. Consider a situation where you receive your nursing degree in New Jersey, and are willing to move to Iowa. If you can relocate to an area that is underserved for a specific number of years, the government will pay off your loans. That said, you will still need to obtain board certification and licensing in the state you are moving to, as well as secure a job there.
If you are young enough, healthy, and do not mind the possibility of being sent into unprovoked combat situations, you may want to join the National Guard. Aside from releasing you from student loan debt, you will be earning a reasonable amount of money. The military will also help you with obtaining mortgages, car loans, and health care.
That said, if you are interested in a militant lifestyle, it may be best to directly join one of the armed forces. Even though the National Guard is supposed to prepare you to defend your country, you will receive much more constant and rigorous training in the standard armed forces. Unfortunately, in today's world of guerilla warfare and terrorism, you may well need that ramped up training if you want to come home from combat alive and in one piece.
Without a question, the cost of educational loans is beyond the reach of the people they were originally intended to serve. That said, there are still some opportunities open if you are willing to work in a specific career, or geographic location. You can ask your university counselor about these opportunities. If you are still in highschool, you may also want to ask your guidance counselor. As may be expected, securing a grant and working in a field you will enjoy can be much more rewarding than taking on student loans that will take years to pay back. |
